Answers To Your Questions

I know that choosing a therapist can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. That’s why I want you to rest assured that you’ve chosen well. Below you’ll find answers to some of my clients’ frequently asked questions. I’ve been able to cover quite a few topics, but if there’s something I haven’t touched on, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Can I get a same-day appointment?

Unfortunately, not.  Each session and evaluation requires specific/ detailed preparation. Contact me today so we can plan it together.

A free virtual consultation is mandatory before scheduling any evaluation. It is important for me to get to know you, answer your questions, share my approach, and determine if we are a good fit for each other.

Will my insurance cover my visit?

Brainstorm Speech Therapy does NOT accept insurance at this time and is considered an OUT-OF-NETWORK PROVIDER for ALL insurances.

REASON?  We believe that you deserve our whole attention;  we prefer to invest our time, energy, and resources in YOU, YOUR CHILD, and YOUR treatment plan. We also want YOU to have full control of YOUR treatment.  

​

Private pay options allow for flexibility and creative solutions when providing services.  Insurance companies often dictate the number and duration of services and occasionally do not cover speech services at all. By accepting private pay options only, we do not require referrals or prior authorizations. ​

​

BUT WAIT! 

​

We do offer superbills! (monthly statements for your OWN INSURANCE CLAIMS) 

 

Depending on your plan and company, some insurances may reimburse for part or all speech therapy services.  

​

Please call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask the representative what speech therapy coverage is with an out-of-network provider; after our initial consultation, we will provide you with a "cheat sheet" so you can successfully verify your out-of-network benefits

Only after successful verification of your out-of-network benefits, a superbill will be rendered. 

​​

Note: I am licensed to provide Speech-Language Therapy Services in VA and NY.  I can offer consultations in other States and all over the world. However, those services are ALL OUT-OF-POCKET. No superbills can be provided.

​

Friendly reminder:  It is the family’s responsibility to save copies of all treatment notes, evaluations, progress reports, invoices, and superbills from handling any insurance claims;  but don't worry everything will be safe in our portal for your convenience. 

​

Ask for my prompt pay rate, insurance rate and courtesy billing.

Do you offer in-person and/or teletherapy?

BrainStorm offers a hybrid therapeutic model.  The best mean of service will be discussed individually with each family/client. 

​

Brainstorm offers: 

  • Office services: 307 E Annandale Road suite 208 Falls Church VA 22042 -APPOINTMENT ONLY

  • Interactive Teletherapy session using ZOOM! (HIPAA secured)

​

We also offer:  occasional - NOT for weekly therapy + $25 traveling fee

​

  • In-home services: We will visit you in the comfort of your home 

  • Community sessions: parks, supermarkets, local libraries, coffee shops, etc 

  • School sessions: If allowed, sessions can be completed at your children's school/daycare 

Are sessions in English or Spanish?

Sessions will be conducted in the preferred language of the family.

 

I particularly enjoy working with bilingual English-Spanish-speaking families because I am fascinated by how the bilingual brain functions. Additionally, as a Latina (Colombia presente!!!), I aim to support my community to the best of my ability.

 

I believe that bilingualism and multilingualism are rights, and I will always strive to honor your family's choice.

  • Virginia K-12 Learning Acceleration Grant -- ClassWallet: Brainstorm Speech Therapy is an approved vendor through Class Wallet with the Virginia K-12 Learning Acceleration Grant.  If your child has been approved for this grant with an eligible preschool or school-age school disability, you can choose to use those funds for speech therapy with us.  For additional information regarding the VA learning grant and eligibility requirements, please visit their website at:
