I know that choosing a therapist can sometimes be a bit overwhelming. That’s why I want you to rest assured that you’ve chosen well. Below you’ll find answers to some of my clients’ frequently asked questions. I’ve been able to cover quite a few topics, but if there’s something I haven’t touched on, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Do you offer same-day appointments?

Unfortunately, we do not offer same-day appointments. Each session and evaluation requires specific preparation to ensure the best outcome.

To get started, please contact us today so we can plan your session together.

A free virtual consultation is mandatory before scheduling any evaluation. This consultation allows us to get to know you, address your questions, share our approach, and determine if we’re a good fit to work together.

Do you accept insurance?

At Brainstorm Speech Therapy, we are in-network with AETNA and TRICARE. However, for all other insurance providers, we are considered an out-of-network provider.

Why?


We believe you deserve our full attention. By not working directly with most insurance companies, we are able to invest our time, energy, and resources into you, your child, and your treatment plan. We also want you to have full control over your treatment.

Private pay options give us the flexibility to tailor services to your needs. Insurance companies often restrict the number and duration of services and sometimes do not cover speech therapy at all. By offering private pay, we do not require referrals or prior authorizations.

But wait! We do offer superbills!


Superbills are monthly statements that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Depending on your insurance plan, you may be reimbursed for part or all of your speech therapy services.

To verify your out-of-network benefits, please call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask about coverage for speech therapy services with an out-of-network provider. After our initial consultation, we will provide you with a "cheat sheet" to help you successfully verify your out-of-network benefits. Only after your benefits have been successfully verified will we issue a superbill.

Note:
We are licensed to provide Speech-Language Therapy Services in Virginia and New York. We can offer consultations in other states and globally, but these services are all out-of-pocket and no superbills can be provided.

Reminder:
It is the family's responsibility to retain copies of all treatment notes, evaluations, progress reports, invoices, and superbills for insurance claims. Don’t worry—everything will be safely stored in our portal for your convenience.

Brainstorm Package for Maximum Discount


To receive the maximum discount on services, consider our Brainstorm Package, which provides a comprehensive set of sessions at a discounted rate. This option is designed to give you the best value while committing to a personalized treatment plan. ONLY FOR PRIVATE PAY CLIENTS

Do you offer in-person and/or teletherapy?

Yes! Brainstorm Speech Therapy offers a hybrid therapeutic model to best meet the needs of each family and client. We will discuss the most effective method of service delivery during your consultation.

Our options include:

  • Office Services:
    307 E Annandale Road, Suite 208, Falls Church, VA 22042 (by appointment only)

  • Teletherapy:
    Interactive teletherapy sessions via Zoom (HIPAA-secured).

  • In-home Services:
    We can visit you in the comfort of your home for therapy sessions. Note: This service is only available for hyperlocal areas (within 5-8 miles of our main office), is offered on a limited basis, and incurs an additional travel fee that is not covered by insurance and will be out-of-pocket.

  • Community Sessions:
    Therapy in local parks, libraries, coffee shops, supermarkets, etc. 
    Note: This service is only available for hyperlocal areas (within 5-8 miles of our main office), is offered on a limited basis, and incurs an additional travel fee that is not covered by insurance and will be out-of-pocket.

  • School Sessions:
    If permitted, we can provide therapy at your child’s school or daycare. 
    Note: This service is only available for hyperlocal areas (within 5-8 miles of our main office), is offered on a limited basis, and incurs an additional travel fee that is not covered by insurance and will be out-of-pocket.

In which language will the sessions be conducted?

Sessions will be conducted in the preferred language of the family.

We particularly enjoy working with bilingual English-Spanish-speaking families because we are fascinated by how the bilingual brain functions. Additionally, as a team committed to cultural competency, we are proud to support our community to the best of our ability.

All of our clinicians are bilingual in English and Spanish, ensuring we can provide services that align with your family’s language preference.

 

We believe that bilingualism and multilingualism are fundamental rights, and we will always strive to honor your family’s choice in every session.

How can I pay for services?

Payments can be made through the following options:

  • Stripe via Simple Practice (secure online payments)

  • Personal Checks (preferred payment methods for Brainstorm Packages)

  • Health Savings Account (HSA)

  • Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
