Hola! I am Irene Gutiérrez, Brainstorm Owner/Founder & your
Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist.

Irene is a Colombian-American bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist and founder of Brainstorm Speech-Language Therapy, with 18 years of experience working with children ages 0-18. She is licensed by the Virginia Board of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists and by the New York State Education Department (“SED”) Office of the Professions (“OP”), holds a teacher of students with speech and language disabilities (TSSLD) certificate in New York, and is trained in various therapeutic approaches, including SCERTS, Gestalt Language Processing, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Orofacial Myofunctional therapy, and more. Irene is also certified in Early Intervention and continues to expand her knowledge in feeding, bilingualism, and myofunctional therapy.
Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Irene holds a Master's in Speech and Language Pathology from Universitat de VIC, Spain, and Universidad Nacional de Colombia. She began her career in New York City, where she developed a deep understanding of cultural diversity and the value of an interdisciplinary approach. In 2015, she moved to Northern Virginia, where she further honed her skills in collaborative, family-centered therapy before founding Brainstorm Speech Therapy.
Irene is the creator of the La Cuenterapeuta podcast, where she shares captivating stories and practical tips to help enhance language skills in Spanish. Her passion for giving back extends beyond her work with families—she volunteered with Smiles for Speech on their mission to Cuba, providing essential support to communities in need. Irene is also dedicated to supporting the SLP community by translating important resources into Spanish, ensuring that Spanish-speaking families have access to proper information and community resources in their home language. In addition, she offers her expertise as a freelance Spanish language instructor and community translator.
Irene is deeply committed to the power of community and continuously seeks ways to uplift those around her. Whether it’s supporting her team, connecting with local neighbors, or serving the families in her care, she dedicates herself to sharing her skills, compassion, and wholehearted support in every interaction.

Carolina is a certified speech-language pathologist (SLP) with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the Virginia Board of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists. She holds a graduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from New York University and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Houston.
Carolina has extensive experience working with children of all ages (18 months to 21 years) in both private practice and public schools. She specializes in treating expressive and receptive language disorders, speech sound disorders, fluency issues, social/pragmatic language challenges, and nonverbal children who use AAC devices. She is particularly passionate about working with young children and has also supported children with autism and sensory integration disorders. As an IEP specialist, Carolina enjoys collaborating with families and schools to create individualized plans that help children thrive.
A bilingual SLP with roots in Uruguay and Italy, Carolina was raised in Houston, Texas, fostering her love for diverse cultures. Before pursuing speech-language pathology, she briefly worked in the legal field. As a mother, she understands the importance of compassionate care and communication. In her free time, Carolina enjoys spending time with her family, watching her favorite shows, and exploring the outdoors.
Carolina is excited to join the Brainstorm Consulting team, bringing her expertise and passion to make a positive impact.

Hi there! my name is Kathryn 'Katie' Rincon,
and I am your Bilingual Speech Language Pathologist!

Katie is a bilingual speech-language pathologist with 15 years of experience. She is a
certified member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and a
licensed member of the Virginia Board of Speech-Language Pathologists and
Audiologists.
She received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University and graduate
degree from the University of Central Florida in Communication Sciences and
Disorders.
Katie enjoys working with kids and their families from a variety of backgrounds and with
different strengths and challenges. As a neurodivergent person herself, Katie
understands how unique each person is. Her passions include autism, executive
functioning, auditory processing, ADHD, dyslexia, and sensory feeding. Most of all she
enjoys truly supporting each person by connecting them to meaningful strategies that
make a difference in their lives.
Katie is married to her love and best friend, Diego. She is also a mom to two sweet and
energetic kids. She enjoys riding her bike, painting pottery at Clay Café, napping,
weightlifting, and sledding with her family.
